Some People

Some people should quit spreading lies.
Some people should not look for deceit when there was none.
Some people should let go of the past.

I won't say anything more because the people to whom I want to defend myself don't listen. The people to whom I don't need to defend myself don't believe bad things about me.

Thanks for your grounding influence, Dan. I needed it.

A fun quiz

The Sonnet

Deliberate Gentle Love Dreamer (DGLD)

The Sonnet

Romantic, hopeful, and composed. You are the Sonnet. Get it? Composed?

Sonnets want Love and have high ideals about it. They're conscientious people, caring & careful. You yourself have deep convictions, and you devote a lot of thought to romance and what it should be. This will frighten away most potential mates, but that's okay, because you're very choosy with your affections anyway. You'd absolutely refuse to date someone dumber than you, for instance.

Lovers who share your idealized perspective, or who are at least willing to totally throw themselves into a relationship, will be very, very happy with you. And you with them. You're already selfless and compassionate, and with the right partner, there's no doubt you can be sensual, even adventurously so.

You probably have lots of female friends, and they have a special soft spot for you. Babies do, too, at the tippy-top of their baby skulls.

Your exact female opposite:

Because I Dream

So are you turning around your mind?
Do you think the sun won't shine this time?
Are you breathing only half of the air?
Are you giving only half of a chance?

Don't you wanna shake because you love?
Cry because you care?
Feel 'cause you're alive?
Sleep because you're tired?

Make heaven, heaven out of hell now...

Are you locked up in you, counting the days?
Oh, how long until you have your freedom?
Just shake because you love!
Cry because you care!
Feel 'cause you're alive!
Sleep
because you're tired!
Shake
because you love!
Bleed
'cause you got hurt!
Die
because you lived!

Make heaven, heaven out of hell now...

Are you still turning around the same thing?
Are you still trying that way?
Are you still praying the same prayers?
Are you still waiting for that same day to come?

Climbing the same mountain,
You're not getting higher.
You're running after yourself,
Can't let go.
Hiding in that place you don't wanna be.
You push happiness so far away,
But it comes back
To give you all that you've been given before!
To love you the way that you do, like a mirror!
Look in the air 'n' catch that boomerang --
Can't fall anywhere else but in your own.

And make heaven,
Heaven out of hell now.
Make heaven,
Heaven out of hell now...
Make heaven, heaven out of hell now...
Make heaven,
Heaven out of hell now...

Are you still waiting?

Make heaven!
Heaven out of hell now.

Are you still praying?

Make heaven!
Heaven out of hell now.

Are you still losing?

Make heaven!
Heaven out of hell now.
Make heaven,
Heaven out of hell now...

I wanna fly because
I dream
dream
dream

heart, time, timeheart, life

Have you ever thought about...

I'd like to get away from earth for awhile
And then come back to it and begin over.
May no fate wilfully misunderstand me
And half grant what I wish and snatch me away
Not to return. Earth's the right place for love:
I don't know where it's likely to go better.
I'd like to go by climbing a birch tree,
And climb black branches up a snow-white trunk
Toward heaven, till the tree could bear no more,
But dipped its top and set me down again.
That would be good both going and coming back.
One could do worse than be a swinger of birches.
-- Robert Frost

... And pray to God to have mercy on us
And pray that I may forget
These matters that with myself I too much discuss
Too much explain
Because I do not hope to turn again.
Let these words answer
For what is done, not to be done again.

Because these wings are no longer wings to fly
But merely vans to beat the air
The air which is now thoroughly small and dry
Smaller and dryer than the will
Teach us to care and not to care
Teach us to sit still.
-- T.S. Eliot

Sometimes the light when evening fails
stains all haystacked country and hills,
runs the cornrows and clasps the barn
with that kind of color escaped from corn
that brings to autumn the winter word--
a level shaft that tells the world:
     It is too late now for earlier ways;
now there are only some other ways,
and only one way to find them---fail.
In one stride night then takes the hill.
-- William Stafford

Into the night of the heart
your name drops slowly
and moves in silence and falls
and breaks and spreads its water.

Something wishes for its slight harm
and its infinite and short esteem,
like the step of a lost one
suddenly heard.

Suddenly, suddenly listened to
and spread in the heart
with sad insistence and increase
like a cold autumnal dream.

The thick wheel of the earth,
its tire moist with oblivion,
spins, cutting time
into inaccessible halves.

Its hard goblets cover your heart
spilt upon the cold earth
with its poor blue sparks
flying in the voice of the rain.
-- Pablo Neruda

The Mystic Protector

So apparently my personality type has evolved over the past few years, changing from the INTJ into the INFJ. One whole letter difference! Now, to those of you who are unfamiliar with this way of defining personality types, the letters stand for the following: Introverted iNtuitive Thinker Judger. The F in the latter stands for Feeler. I guess if you want to know the difference, you can certainly contact me and ask. However, for the INFJ, here is a link. I was reading over the page today and it describes me almost perfectly.

http://www.geocities.com/lifexplore/infj.htm

If you feel like having insight into my personality type, I encourage you to have a look at the sections on Living, Loving, the Profile by David Keirsey, Home, and Mates. I found those sections to be interestingly accurate, though I rarely agree with the assessments of what other 'types' a person should end up with.

In other news, it's been storming since about 3. I was caught at the library for a few minutes during a power outage as a tornado raged in a nearby county. Needless to say, I was more than a little nervous, especially when considering the speed with which the storm approached. Thankfully, though, we were all alright and I got home safely. I expect it to storm for most of tonight but I don't mind. Thunderstorms are nice. Tornadoes, not so much. I've also been so inordinately exhausted lately and I can't quite discern the reasons why. My mom thinks it has something to do with the fact that I don't take vitamins daily, and I'm half-inclined to agree. Ah well. I guess I'd find out soon enough if I got ahold of some and began taking them. :x Silly things, right?

Beyond that, there's not much to update about.

Just Thinking of the Right Words to Say

Well, that's it for this semester. I've finished all of my exams with, ideally, passing scores. Thus 'completes' my first year of college. This really is quite different because, for once, I don't want it to be summer vacation. I want to stay here. Right where I am. This past year, for the first time in my life, I've felt like this is where I'm supposed to be.

It's almost funny, considering that my reasons for moving down here were a bit stupid, to be blunt. The first few months here were hard and a bit depressing -- but I won't go into detail on that. The point is that, regardless of what I've been through, things are constantly happening for the better. It's almost mind-boggling. Of all the bad things that have happened in my life, despair has almost never set in. Things are constantly uphill. This doesn't mean they aren't hard sometimes, but... everything is changing me. Everything makes me braver and stronger. Happier.

There are things I'm finally beginning to understand about people and the world. Things I've been trying to figure out for several years, even about myself. There are a few lingering, shadowy doubts and fears that only time can send away. But they aren't overpowering -- they don't hang over my shoulder or influence my thoughts and actions as they once might have. I think living life without regrets is going to be a life well-lived. So far... no regrets. I don't think I'd change a thing.

My future is defined only by vague brushstrokes thus far but... I like the picture that's being painted.
